About the Event
What's it all about?
According to the 2020–2022 National Study of Mental Health and Wellbeing (NSMHW), 8.5 million Australians aged 16-85 had experienced a mental illness at some time in their life. This is 43% of the population.
This valuable accredited training will equip you with essential skills to support the mental health and wellbeing of those around you.
LEARN PRACTICAL MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID SKILLS
Recognise common mental health problems
Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan
Seek appropriate professional help, and
Respond in a crisis situation
Who will be leading the session?
Tamara is a mother of three adult children and has two grandchildren. She is the founder of PS My Family Matters, an organization that offers peer support to families in the Macedon Ranges who care for individuals with mental illness. Tamara has been actively involved in the Macedon Ranges community for over 20 years. Her commitment to mental health advocacy was sparked when three family members were diagnosed with serious mental illnesses within a span of three months. The training she provides is evidence-based and incorporates her personal experiences to enhance the training’s relevance and impact.
Term 4 2024 Information
Adult Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) will run on the following dates:
Session 1: Sunday 9th February 2025
Session 2: Sunday 16th February 2025
Each day from 9:30am-4:30pm.
** Attendance on both days is a requirement of accreditation.
The course is free to attend, thanks to funding from P.S. My Family Matters and support from the Woodend Neighbourhood House.
Participants must be over the age of 18 to attend.
Participants are required to purchase a Mental Health First Aid Workbook for $16.50.
The course requires a minimum of 6 participants to go ahead (maximum of 22 students). If we do not attract enough participants to the course, a refund of the workbook fee ($16.50) will be organised.
Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. Please provide your own lunch.
